Junior String Orchestra 

The Junior String Orchestra (BYJST) is a beginning ensemble for young string players who demonstrate a good foundation in playing technique and note-reading. Rehearsals emphasize establishing rhythm and sight reading skills, as well as rehearsal etiquette and performance skills. Junior Strings is comprised of students through Grade 7. This ensemble rehearses on Monday evenings from 5:45-6:45pm (October thru May).*

*Rehearsal schedules and locations have been impacted by the pandemic. We continue to alter our programming and communicate with members regularly regarding changes.


  • Live auditions will be held on Monday, September 19 & 26 from 5:45-6:45pm. (location TBA)
  • To schedule your audition, email [email protected].
  • We are currently accepting auditions for violin, viola, and bass.
  • You will be asked to sight read.
  • BYJST begins rehearsing on Monday, October 3. _________________________________________________________________________________________

*BYOV is a tuition-based organization. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. See our Frequently Asked Questions. Please note:  BYOV policy requires participation in your school music program, when there is a music program available.
