Concert Orchestra Auditions 

The Concert Orchestra (BYCO) is a symphonic orchestra for string, wind, brass, and percussion musicians who demonstrate an advancing level of playing on their instrument, with emphasis on acquisition of advanced technical and musical skills, rehearsal discipline, and advanced ensemble playing. Concert Orchestra is comprised of  students through Grade 12. The Concert Orchestra rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm at Old Dominion University, Diehn Center for the Performing Arts.

*BYOV policy requires participation in your school music program.

UPCOMING AUDITION OPPORTUNITIES

• Audition materials are now available!
• We currently have openings for the following instruments in this ensemble; VIOLA, DOUBLE BASS, OBOE, BASSOON, FRENCH HORN & PERCUSSION
• Applications can be submitted on a rolling basis. The deadline to submit is August 25, 2026.

PREPARING & SUBMITTING YOUR AUDITION

1. Record a video of your audition materials in a single take and upload it to YouTube. Our friends at the Virginia Symphony Orchestra have created a helpful tutorial on how to upload your audition video to YouTube.
2. Complete the 2026-2027 Audition Application Form online and pay the $20 audition fee.
3. Submit your application and audition materials.
